Mr. Hanif S. Kalia, Chairman of Kalia Group is a pragmatic visionary, brilliant leader, an active member of the Memon Community and a huge supporter and promoter of an IT culture in Pakistan. His leadership and organizational skills have taken the company to great heights.
Born on the 12th of April 1949 in Karachi, Mr. Hanif Kalia completed his Bachelors in Commerce (B.Com) and developed an interest in finance and accounting and hence got a degree as a Fellow Cost and Management Accountant (FCMA). Mr. Kalia has been awarded a gold medal for being an outstanding member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP).
Initially, he worked with some leading industrial and commercial concerns and finally established Kalia Group and with his wisdom and vision, made it the fastest growing company in Pakistan.
Mr. Kalia is currently the President of Pakistan Memon Educational & Welfare Society and in his tenure laid the foundation of a world-class institute Sir Adamjee Institute of Technology which educates students in the disciples of Information Technology and Business Management. In Mr. Hanif S. Kalias opinion, the world has changed so much that the traditional ways of learning and earning will not help individuals and no progress and prosperity is possible without IT literacy. He is of the view that IT illiteracy would lead to decline and downfall. He is a post bearer and member of other professional organizations like Memon Professional Forum, Forex Association of Pakistan, Management Association of Pakistan, Pakistan Business Forum, Pakistan Quiz Society and the Memon Book Foundation. On the social welfare front he is a Patron of the United Memon Jamat of Pakistan, Bantva Anjuman-e-Himiyate Islam, Memon Graduate Association and Karachi Memon Students Organization.
He has contributed a number of articles on economy and finance with special reference to Foreign Exchange, Education, IT in leading newspapers and journals in English, Urdu and Gujrati. He has also submitted guidelines and suggestions of vital significance to the Ministry of Science & Technology for IT Development & Software Exports Policy, which have been duly acknowledged and some of them have been implemented at the official level.
